System 3 is one of the hottest and most popular brands on the market, and for good reason! They continue to innovate and bring the industry new and improved tires for every terrain out there! Below, we delve into some of their standout models, highlighting their features, ideal terrains, size options, and considerations to help you make the right choice for your next set of tires:

System 3 XTR370

Features:

  • Tread Depth: 27-32 inch tires feature 0.75 to 1.0-inch deep treads; 33 inches and above boast 1.0 to 1.25-inch depths.
  • Design: Multi-angle shoulder tread blocks enhance side bite.
  • Construction: Durable 8-ply-rated radial carcass with advanced sidewall design for a comfortable ride.

Best For: The XTR370 is fairly versatile across various terrains, including rocky, gravelly, and hard-packed surfaces. Excels in providing forward bite and responsive handling. We see these performing well in areas nationwide, however they are extremely popular on the east coast in areas like Hatfield-McCoy and Windrock.   • Great side-bite, offering incredible traction

ATX470 All-Terrain Xtreme

Features:

  • Design: Medium compound, flexible tread blocks and wide footprint
  • Construction: 10-ply-rated flexible carcass

Best For: This is a multi-terrain tire. We took these out to Sand Hollow and the performed extremely well in the rocks with the flexible design and softer compound tread (video below). The also have performed really well on the trails in the PNW and in areas like Tennessee. 

Sizes Available: From 28-inch up to 37-inch options.

Pros:

  • Maximum grip on rocks and slick surfaces
  • .80" angled center tread blocks, 1.50" split dual stagger shoulder blocks bite and pull through deep ruts
  • Extremely durable, 10 ply construction

Cons:

  • They are not the best looking tire, but the performance makes up for that and then some. 

ATX470 in action!

MT410 Mud Terrain

Features:

  • Tread Depth: Deep 1.5 to 2.0-inch grooved V-lug pattern for superior mud traction and self-cleaning.
  • Design: Full-width carcass ensures true-to-size diameter, maximizing ride height and footprint.
  • Construction: Flexible 8-ply-rated carcass with a medium compound for a smooth ride.

Best For: Designed specifically for deep mud conditions, offering excellent pull-through in boggy terrains.

Pros:

  • Outstanding mud traction.
  • Effective self-cleaning design to get you through the deepest bogs.
  • Enhanced ride height and maximizes your footprint. 

Cons:

  • Not an all around tire. This is meant specifically for all you boggers out there. Maybe okay in the snow? Don't quote us, we haven't tried it ourselves! 

XT400 Extreme Trail

Features:

  • Tread Depth: Dual-stage lugs up to 2 inches deep.
  • Design: Aggressive shoulder tread with a deep rim guard.
  • Construction: 10-ply-rated radial carcass with a full-width traction footprint.

Best For: A hybrid tire suitable for both mud and trail riding, delivering exceptional trail traction.

Sizes Available: From 27-inch up to 40-inch options.

Pros:

  • Versatile performance in various terrains.
  • Beefy tire with aggressive shoulder tread
  • Wide range of sizes to accommodate any setup!

Cons:

  • Can be a little loud on hard pack due to the aggressive tread design. 

DX440

Features:

  • Design: Non-directional, multi-angle tread blocks with sharp shoulder angles for precise handling.
  • Construction: 8-ply radial design with a Gen 2 carcass for reduced weight and rolling resistance.

Best For: Excels on hard-packed and semi-loose terrains, offering a balance between speed and durability. This is the fastest tire in the System 3 lineup! 

Sizes Available: From 30-inch up to 35-inch options.

Pros:

  • Lightweight design reduces driveline stress for high speed terrains
  • Tread design offers precision handling
  • Super deep rim guard to keep your wheel lip safe

Cons:

  • This is not your mud tire. This is a go-fast UTV tire. 

SS360 Sand Tire

Features:

  • Design: Unique tread pattern with angled paddles for improved flotation and handling in sandy terrains.
  • Construction: Lightweight 2-ply carcass.

Best For: This tire is for the dunes and snow, providing excellent flotation and predictable handling. We have personally ran these tires for years in the sand on everything from a NA motor to A RZR Pro R, and they are extremely playful tires. We love them! 

Sizes Available: From 28-inch up to 35-inch options.

Pros:

  • Superior performance in sand dunes.
  • Lightweight design reduces vehicle strain.
  • Predictable handling during high-speed maneuvers.

Cons:

  • These are not the tires that will get the holeshot in a drag race, but they offer better flotation and handling than most sand tires on the market! 

RC500/RC500S Rock Crawler

Features:

  • Design: Innovative tread design raising the bar for rock crawling and challenging terrains. 
  • Construction: 10-ply RC500 and 8-ply RC500S. 

Best For: This is System 3's newest rock crawling tire, and they set the bar high! The RC500 is a great all around tire that offers a 10ply construction, reinforced lower sidewall, and is unmatched in loose to hardpack terrains. The RC500S is the Maxxis Roxxzilla competitor everyone has been waiting for! The "S" is for sticky compound. The softer tread design and lighter carcass result in a new standard in slick surface traction! 

Sizes Available: From 27-inch up to 37-inch options.

Pros:

  • Ultimate rock crawling tire
  • Extremely durable
  • Super deep rim guard protects your wheel around obstacles. 

Cons:

  • We can't find one. Don't put them on your Prius, however that would be cool to see!

XCR350 X-Country Radial

Features:

  • Design: Multi-angle tread with a stepped structure for maximum bite.
  • Construction: 8-ply-rated radial carcass that is lightweight and flexible.

Best For: Designed for tough and technical terrains, offering excellent grip and a smooth ride. Once again, we have personally ran these tires for years in the PNW. They are an incredible tire for almost all terrains. Snow, loose trail, hardpack, rocks, wet conditions....super stoked with the performance in each!

Sizes Available: From 28-inch up to 36-inch options.

Pros:

  • Exceptional traction in technical terrains.
  • Lightweight design enhances maneuverability.
  • Great tire to air-down in snow or rock crawling situations

Cons:

  • In our experience, these do not clean out super well in thicker mud. 

RT320 Race & Trail

Features:

  • Design: Non-directional mixed terrain design
  • Construction: 8-ply-rated carcass, lightweight with wide contact patch

Best For: Hardpack trails or desert terrains. Also a great tire for pavement, as it has a high mileage rubber compound. 

Sizes Available: From 28-inch up to 35-inch options.

Pros:

  • Pulls hard on loose surfaces
  • Rides very smooth and quiet on hard pack
  • You will get a lot of miles out of this tire

Cons:

  • Really no cons with this tire, just make sure you are buying it for the right terrains!
