UTV All-Terrain Tires For Every Terrain

All-terrain tires are the most versatile option in the lineup. They handle dirt, gravel, light mud, rocks, snow, and sand without needing a tire swap every time the surface changes. This collection carries all-terrain UTV tires from brands like System 3, SuperATV, Maxxis, and ITP in sizes that fit Polaris, Can-Am, Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, and other popular platforms. If your riding takes you across mixed terrain on any given trip, this is the category to start in.

What separates a good all-terrain tire from a cheap one comes down to a few things you can spot on the product page. Look at the lug pattern: aggressive, well-spaced lugs bite into soft ground while staying stable on a hardpack. Self-cleaning tread channels push mud and debris out so the tire does not pack up and lose grip mid-ride. Radial construction, which is standard on most quality options here, lets the sidewall flex independently for a smoother ride and better heat dissipation at speed. Ply rating tells you how much load and abuse the tire can take. Most all-terrain tires in this collection are 8-ply or higher, built to handle trail obstacles without sacrificing ride comfort.

FAQ

How do all-terrain UTV tires perform in deep mud?

All-terrain tires can handle light to moderate mud well, but they are not mud tires. The lug pattern is less aggressive, and the grooves are shallower than a dedicated mud tire, so in truly deep or wet mud, they will start to pack up and lose traction. For riders who push into heavy mud regularly, a dedicated mud tire with deep, self-cleaning lugs will outperform all-terrain tires in that specific condition.

What size all-terrain UTV tires do I need?

Tire size varies widely depending on your machine and what you are trying to accomplish. Larger tires add ground clearance and can increase traction on terrain like sand, mud, rocks, and snow, but they add weight and can put additional stress on upstream components like axles, differentials, and wheel bearings. A general rule is that you have about an inch of wiggle room compared to your stock tire size, and many manufacturers have warranty stipulations around sizing, so always check before going up. Riders who run low pressure on rocks can look at beadlock wheels. For trail and hardpack riding, non-beadlock wheels are a lighter, simpler match.

Are radial all-terrain tires better than bias ply?

For most all-terrain riding, radial construction is the more versatile choice. The sidewall flexes independently of the tire's center, absorbing shock and improving handling. Radial tires also dissipate heat better, which can extend the tire's lifespan. Bias ply tires have a crisscross ply structure that extends into the sidewall, creating a stiffer build that some riders prefer for specific applications. Radial tires are by far the more common option in today's UTV tire market.

Do all-terrain UTV tires work on pavement?

Yes. All-terrain tires handle pavement as well as off-road surfaces. They will not feel identical to a purpose-built road tire, and aggressive lug patterns can create more noise and wear faster on hard surfaces, but they can drive on paved roads. If you ride mostly on pavement with occasional off-road trips, an all-terrain tire is a solid fit.

Can I mix all-terrain tires with mud tires on the same UTV?

You can run different tire types on the front and rear, though it is not common for all-terrain setups. Some riders will choose a slightly more aggressive mud tire in the rear for added traction while keeping all-terrain tires up front for easier steering. The tradeoff is that the tires will wear at different rates and the UTV may handle differently depending on conditions.

How do I know when my all-terrain UTV tires need replacing?

Look at the tread depth first. When the lugs wear down significantly and the tire starts to look shallow across the tread face, grip will drop off noticeably. Check the sidewall for cracking, cuts, or bubbling as well, since sidewall damage weakens the tire's structure even if the tread still looks usable. Uneven wear across the tread can also point to alignment or pressure issues worth addressing before the next set goes on.

Do all-terrain tires work in snow?

They do to a degree. All-terrain tires perform reasonably well in light and packed snow, particularly radial designs with open tread patterns that can bite and push snow clear. In deep or heavy snow, they will struggle the same way they do in deep mud. Dedicated snow tires or track systems are better for serious winter conditions, but for mixed riding that includes occasional snow, all-terrain tires suffice.
